I measured the time taken to compress the Application !Messenger.
This program has 162 files and normally takes up nearly 2MBytes of disc space.

But if it was compressed into one file with the ZIP program using a compression
setting from 0 to 9 you can see what effect this has on storage space and time
taken to perform it.

Setting Time Taken (secs)	File size (Bytes)

0 09 1762K
1 12 831K
2 13 819K
3 13 819K
4 14 792K
5 15 780K
6 18 774K
7 20 772K
8 31 770K
9 48 769K

I think you can agree after a setting of 5 there is little to be gained in
saving storage space as it just takes longer to do it.
