RemoveIcon by Quantum Software V1.32 8/10/02
--------------------------------------------

WHAT IT DOES
------------
This program removes icons on the iconbar.

HOW DO I USE IT
---------------
You place the '!Removeicn' application in the Tasks directory of your
computer so that it is run on bootup.
On a A7000/RiscPC this is $.!Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks

From the file in !Removeicn.List it decides to remove the icons from
the icon bar. So you need to edit this list.

IS THIS REMOVAL PERMANENT?
--------------------------
No, when you reboot the computer (or quit the application that makes the icon on the icon bar and rerun it) and *don't* rerun this program your icons will
come back.

HOW MUCH MEMORY DOES THIS PROGRAM TAKE UP?
------------------------------------------
It is one of those program types that run for a couple of seconds and then quits. But for those brief seconds. It uses about 24K.

TO CUSTOMISE THIS LIST
----------------------
Open up !Removeicn and you will see a text file called 'List'.

This contains the list of icons that can be removed from the icon bar.

Example shown:

| These are your list of choices
| remove the '|' at the start of the line to
| remove that particular icon from the iconbar.
|
|CDDISC :0
|HARDDRIVE HardDisc4
|HARDDRIVE name
|SCSIDRIVE name
|SCSIDRIVE name
|SCSIDRIVE name
|SCSIDRIVE name
|FLOPPY :0
|FLOPPY :1
|FLOPPY :2
|FLOPPY :3
|APPS
|RAMDISC
|DISPLAY
|PALETTE
|TASK
|ANY name
|ANT_INTERNET

So for example to remove the Apps icon from the Icon Bar you remove the '|'
in front of the name and then resave the List file.
The next time you reboot the computer or double click on !Removeicn then
that icon will be removed (until you reboot).

DISPLAY is the Display manager on A7000/RiscPC machines, PALETTE is the
mode/palette utility on RISC OS 3.1 machines.

TASK is the Task manager icon (far right icon)..

ANY is for any other icon on the icon bar that has a name below the icon.
You supply the name for that particular icon to be removed.
ie
ANY fred (if you had a icon called fred on the icon bat :-)

ANT_INTERNET is the Ant suite Internet application. Tested with V1.31.

To remove a HARDDRIVE or SCSIDRIVE icon you need to replace 'name' with the
actual disc name (letter case important).
For example most A7000/RiscPC machines comes supplied with a hardrive :4
called HardDisc4, so you need to call this 'HARDDRIVE HardDisc4' (letter case is
important).

If you are using a removeable hardrive then supply each SCSIDRIVE or
HARDDRIVE line with your removeable discs name and it will be removed as unknown lines are simply ignored and will not cause an error.

Floppy discs are always called :0,:1 etc. on the icon bar so you don't need
to supply the floppy name!

Please note that it can ONLY remove icons which have already been put in place.
So don't run this program and then run the ANT Suite and expect !Removeicn to
remove the ANT Suite icon. Swap over the running order. :-)

If you have extra icons that appears on the iconbar that I don't support
then get in touch and I'll add support for it.
